Two-Time Super Bowl Champion Urges Jets Fans to Back Kyler Murray in Free Agency Amid Vikings Rumors

Kyler Murray’s seven-year run with the Arizona Cardinals is coming to an end. The star quarterback was drafted by the Cardinals in 2019 as their 1st overall pick in the draft. The former Heisman winner won the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award and made two Pro Bowl appearances for Arizona.

On March 3, it was reported that the Cardinals will release Murray on March 11, the start of the new league year. The Cardinals are reportedly paying him over $36 million guaranteed to go away.

Murray will play on the veteran minimum, around $2 million, making it easier for teams to pursue him in free agency. There are several teams in contention to sign the quarterback, and the Minnesota Vikings are being considered frontrunners in this race.

However, two-time Super Bowl champion Damien Woody wants the New York Jets to play their cards right. Woddy won his Super Bowl titles with the New England Patriots and represented the Jets at the end of his NFL career.

Woody believes that Murray is a QB1 prospect available on the market, and the Jets can benefit from his addition. He urged the Jets fans to create some momentum around his name so that the Jets push harder for him.

“#Jets fans, let’s make this clear….Kyler Murray is the QB1 in the FA market. He’s no scrub & if you could handle Justin Fields at QB then you can damn well handle Kyler, who is a MUCH better QB,” he wrote.

The Jets aren’t the only team in dire need of a good quarterback. The Minnesota Vikings can eliminate a lot of their struggles if they sign Murray. So, if the Jets also see that potential in him, they will have to move quickly because Murray isn’t going to be available on the market for long.

Kyler Murray’s Emotional Note for Arizona Fans

Murray’s time in Arizona wasn’t easy. Although he was the number one pick, signed major deals, including the five-year, $230.5 million extension, Murray was unhappy with some of the conditions in his contract.

Notorious for not watching film, Murray had a homework clause in his contract that was widely criticized at the time. Regardless, now that the quarterback is parting ways with the franchise, he is focusing on the positives.

“To everyone that supported me and showed kindness to my family and I during my time in AZ, from the bottom of my heart, thank you,” he wrote on X.

Murray stated that he had dreamt of winning a championship for the Cardinals. He apologized for not fulfilling that dream and wished for the best for the franchise and the teammates he’s leaving behind.
