Who Are Jaxon Smith-Njigba’s Parents? A Look Into the Personal Life of Seahawks WR

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba was born to Maada Smith-Njigba and Jami Smith on Feb. 14, 2002, in Rockwall, Texas. He grew up in a family that fostered competitive spirit and athletic environment from an early age.

Jaxon’s parents have been his strongest support system through his rise to the NFL. They have been spotted several times attending games and at Smith-Njigba’s red carpet appearance at the 2023 NFL Draft.

Jaxon’s father, Maada, played college football as a linebacker for Stephen F. Austin University. He later worked as a firefighter in Dallas.

JSN is of half Sierra Leonean descent and is known to wear the country’s flag on his helmet. He has an older brother, Canaan, who is a professional MLB baseball player and currently a free agent. Their father was a rather strict trainer and ran them through several tough drills in their youth to instill a strong work ethic.

Jaxon’s mother, Jami Smith, has been a constant fixture at Jaxon’s games and famously accompanied him on the red carpet at the 2023 NFL Draft. She is often seen with other NFL mothers, such as Rhasheda Bickley (mother of Devon Witherspoon).

What does Jaxon Smith-Njigba’s brother do?

Jaxon Smith-Njigba’s brother is a professional baseball outfielder who began his career after being selected in the fourth round by the New York Yankees in the 2017 MLB Draft. However, he was later traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates, making his MLB debut in June 2022. He had a memorable start in the big leagues, recording a double in his very first plate appearance against the St. Louis Cardinals.

After appearing in 18 games for the Pirates in the 2022 and 2023 seasons, he had a brief stint with the Seattle Mariners in early 2024. This move sparked attention as his brother Jaxon played for the Seahawks. He later signed a minor league contract with the Chicago White Sox later that year and now is a free agent.
