According to Spotrac, James Pearce Jr. is playing on a four-year, $16.7 million contract with a fifth-year option. If the option is not taken, Pearce’s time with the team will end after the 2028 season. However, if the Falcons take the option, Pearce will remain a member of Atlanta’s team through the 2029 season.
Pearce’s contract has an average salary of roughly $4.2 million with an $8.8 million signing bonus, and was signed shortly after being drafted 26th overall on May 12, 2025.

Of course, James Pearce Jr.’s impressive 2025 calendar year has given way to a potentially disastrous 2026 calendar year. In 2025, Pearce wrapped up his college career, was drafted on Day 1 of the NFL Draft, and delivered 10.5 sacks for the Falcons.
However, per a Miami-Dade County state attorney complaint via a Monday report by ESPN, Pearce allegedly crashed his car into WNBA player Rickea Jackson’s car with her in the driver’s seat multiple times and crashed into a police car while evading arrest.
Pierce was arrested Saturday and charged with five felonies in connection with the incident. After posting a $20,500 bond, he was released on Sunday.
If convicted, the jail time could render his NFL career forfeit and have an untold negative impact on his total NFL earnings. His earnings from his rookie season are likely to be untouched aside from potential penalties and lawyers’ fees, but if he finds himself unable to play in the NFL, his earnings potential is set to hit a wall.
