According to journalist Jordan Miller, retired Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell was arrested on an outstanding warrant for child support. According to the report, the running back, who is worth $12 million (according to Celebrity Networth), was arrested on Sunday in Stark County, Ohio, shortly after he wrapped up an autograph signing at Belden Village Mall in Jackson Township.
Le’Veon Bell’s NFL career ended in 2021, eight years after it started in 2013. Bell played for the Pittsburgh Steelers between 2013 and 2018, in what was the high point of his career. The Steelers selected him with the 48th pick in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft.
The details of the charges are not known, and the police haven’t released a statement. This is not Bell’s first run-in with the law, as he was handed a default judgment by a jury in 2025 after failing to appear in a sexual abuse case in 2024.
Why Did Le’Veon Bell Leave The Pittsburgh Steelers?
Le’Veon Bell’s time at Pittsburgh came to an unceremonious end in 2018, after he refused a franchise tag and he rebelled against his team during stalled contract renovation negotiations. He missed the entire 2018 season.
Bell has already been franchised tagged for the 2017 season, and the Steelers decided to repeat the operation for a second year in a row for $14.5 million. In January 2018, he had told the press that he would consider sitting out the season or retiring from football if the team designated him with the franchise tag for a second season. It’s reported that he had already turned down a $30 million extension in 2016.
In the aftermath, Bell became a proper journeyman, not staying in any franchise for more than two seasons and not making any actual impact. He would play with the New York Jets (2019-20), Kansas City Chiefs (2020), Baltimore Ravens (2021), and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2021).
During his time at Pittsburgh, he earned two First Team All-Pro and two Second Team All-Pro selections, as well as three Pro Bowl call-ups.
Through 11 seasons (10 if you discount his 2018 rebellion), he recorded 6554 rushing yards, with 42 rushing touchdowns in 1595 carries. His best season was his sophomore campaign in 2014, when he recorded 1361 rushing yards, with eight touchdowns in 290 carries. In 2017, he did have one touchdown more, but only 1291 rushing yards.
He had three 1000+ yard seasons at Pittsburgh, and never cracked 400 rushing yards after leaving the Steelers.
