After being involved in what was arguably the biggest NFL trade ahead of the upcoming 2026 season, edge rusher Jared Verse is currently one of the most talked-about players in the league. After spending a couple of seasons at the Los Angeles Rams, he will now be seen donning Cleveland colors.
Despite Verse’s move being officially announced just three days ago, it looks like the defensive end has already started to put in the hard yards for his new franchise, as he was recently seen taking part in the Cleveland Browns’ Organized Team Activity (OTA).
After the on-field sessions, Verse was asked by the media to describe his game style, and what he had to say will likely excite a lot of Cleveland Browns fans.
“It’s violent. It’s very mean. It’s very, ‘why are you in my way.’ I play angry because I’m like, ‘why do you think you can block me.’ It’s a very violent game when you’re against me”, Verse stated in the post OTA conference.
With Jared Verse showing up on the field despite being traded just days earlier, combined with the playing style he just described, it’s easy to see why the Cleveland Browns have put so much faith in him.
The Cleveland Browns traded last season’s Defensive Player of the Year, DE Myles Garrett, in exchange for edge rusher Jared Verse, a first-round pick in the subsequent NFL draft, plus additional second and third-round selections in 2028 and 2029, respectively.
How Much Will Jared Verse Make At Cleveland Browns?
After being picked by the Los Angeles Rams in the very first round of the 2024 NFL draft as the 19th overall pick, Jared Verse will now — the role as the Browns’ first choice DE after Garrett’s departure.
According to Brownswire, Verse is slated to make close to $2.2 million for the upcoming NFL season while also being eligible for a contract extension next year, which could amount to approximately $2.9 million.
The former rookie defensive player of the year throughout the course of his 34-game-long NFL career has accumulated a total of 124 tackles, including 71 solo stops and 53 assisted tackles, while also registering 12 sacks and forcing five fumbles.
