The Tampa Bay Buccaneers currently have one of the most banged-up rosters in the NFL, with several big names, including wide receiver Mike Evans, missing games due to injuries. Evans has been on the injured reserve since Week 7 due to a broken collarbone and is nearing eligibility to return from the IR, which has a four-week window for players not to be able to return if placed there.
A broken collarbone is considered a serious injury, which raises the question of whether or not Mike Evans will be able to return this season or miss it completely, and how it will impact Fantasy?
Mike Evans Injury Update
It has been six weeks with little update on Mike Evans’ condition after being listed on the injured reserve. The lack of updates has frustrated many, but a new report from Fox Sports’ Greg Auman has indicated that Evans might be nearing his return as the wide receiver is currently on track for his recovery.
The analyst revealed that there is a timetable of “6 to 8 weeks” since getting injured for his return, with Auman adding that the team had always expected the time table for Evans’ return to be on the “longer side.” Despite this, Auman noted that the team is quite optimistic of the wide receiver’s return.
This is coming from insiders, as the team has provided very few updates regarding the injured wide receiver. However, these insiders have been reporting that the team has been optimistic regarding Evans, which means Fantasy managers who have him should breathe a sigh of relief a little more.
When Will Mike Evans Return?
That “6-8-week” window is almost done, so when will Evans return? Greg Auman believes that the wide receiver could be back around “the end of the regular season and for the playoffs.”
This comes as the Buccaneers’ playoff hunt has hit a snag, with the team’s offense struggling after Evans went down with that fractured collarbone. An optimistic view should place his return around Week 15, but it could also happen during the playoffs, which the Bucs still need to secure should fans want to see Mike Evans play again this season.
