Ed Oliver is a foundational piece of the Buffalo Bills defensive line. As a defensive tackle, the pass rusher is tasked with pressuring the quarterback and helping to lock up the run. However, it can be difficult to do that if he isn’t on the field, as has been the case for some time.
Here’s a look at whether the pass rusher is expected to be available to take on the Denver Broncos in the Divisional Round of the playoffs.
Ed Oliver Injury Update
Ed Oliver has been dealing with a Bicep injury. The injury forced Buffalo to place him on the injured reserve. His last action was on Oct. 26 against the Carolina Panthers. Oliver only played three games in the regular season.
This week, Oliver was at practice but was only able to work in a limited fashion. According to the official Bills injury report, the pass rusher was limited on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Last week, Oliver was not present at practice.
Will Ed Oliver Play Against the Denver Broncos?
The pass rusher is officially listed as questionable. However, according to a Friday report by NFL insider Adam Schefter, Oliver was activated from the injured reserve alongside Curtis Samuel. Both are expected to be available for Buffalo against Denver.
Oliver earned three sacks in three games in the regular season, including one forced fumble. He earned one sack in each of the three games he was able to participate in. It is apparent that Oliver will step foot on the field, but might not be back to full health.
As such, there’s a chance he may not finish the game, even if he starts strong in the first quarter. Oliver will line up alongside players such as Joey Bosa, DaQuan Jones, and Greg Rousseau.
