Just months after leading the Denver Broncos into the 2025 AFC championship game against the Patriots last season, coach Sean Payton has extended his stay with the team for the next five seasons.
According to NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Super Bowl XLIV-winning coach will now shepherd the Broncos through the 2030 season.
Upon hearing the news of Payton’s contract extension, fans online did not hold back as they reacted to Denver’s biggest offseason move on X.

Payton boasts an impressive 32-19 record throughout his three-year stint with the Denver Broncos, which includes the team’s 14-3 record in the 2025 NFL season.
Greg Penner Highlights Sean Payton’s Winning Culture After Extension
While announcing Sean Payton’s five-year extension, Denver Broncos owner Greg Penner sang praises of his coach’s achievements since taking charge of the team three years ago.
He emphasized how instrumental Payton has been in instilling a winning culture in the franchise as he expressed his excitement about the contract renewal.
“Sean Payton has led an impressive turnaround over the past three seasons, instilling a winning culture with high expectations,” Penner sAID IN A STATEMENT.
“We’re thrilled for Sean to continue leading our team as head coach, building on our progress during such an exciting time for the Broncos,” he elaborated.
Payton’s contract extension comes just a month after Penner renewed GM George Paton’s contract. Both the coach and the GM will now resume their responsibilities up until the 2030 season, with Penner trying to build stability across football operations.
