The 2025 NFL divisional round games are set to kick off this weekend as the Denver Broncos take on the Buffalo Bills at home this Saturday afternoon.
The home side comes into this encounter boasting an impressive overall record of 14-3 so far this season, while the Bills, after outclassing the Jaguars in a close 24-27 wild-card game, enter this encounter with winning momentum.
The Broncos’ regular season also saw them go on an 11-game win streak this season, which subsequently resulted in them finishing as the no. 1 seed. Part of the Denver-based franchise’s success could be attributed to its star quarterback, Bo Nix’s consistent performances throughout the season.
Having appeared in all 17 of the Broncos’ games this season, Nix is once again slated to play for Denver in this all-important divisional round game. The quarterback is also named as the team’s starting QB in their projected depth chart ahead of this fixture.
This season saw Bo Nix complete a total of 388 of 612 passes for 3,931 yards, with 25 touchdowns and 11 interceptions, and it won’t come as a surprise if the quarterback adds onto these stats positively after the end of today’s fixture.
Bo Nix Expects a Tough, Physical Battle Against Bills
Meanwhile, this divisional round fixture also marks the rematch of the Broncos and the Bills’ wildcard playoff game last season, with the former winning comfortably with a scoreline of 31-7.
Speaking ahead of his team’s divisional round encounter vs. the Bills, Bo Nix acknowledged that the team is more or less structured the same as it was last time.
He also predicted the nature of this divisional round game, calling it tough and physical.
They’re a similar team. Same players, same coach, same quarterback, Nix stated.
I know they’ve dealt with some injuries, but I imagine some of their guys will be back. And its going to be a tough, physical football game, he further elaborated.
While the Broncos enter this divisional round matchup as the no. 1 seed and with a better overall record, a historic playoff stat doesn’t paint a good picture for the Denver-based side.
The Broncos enter this game without having won a single playoff game since February 2016. Their last win in the postseason stage of the NFL came almost ten years back in their Super Bowl 50 game as they triumphed over the Panthers with a scoreline of 24-10.
