Bad Bunny is bringing a lot of new fans to the Super Bowl who might not have been fans of football until now. The star power of the Puerto Rican singer and rapper is unmatched today as he continues to scale new heights with his music.
His Super Bowl gig has also drawn a lot of criticism from those who are not familiar with his music. Bad Bunny’s music is almost exclusively in the Spanish language, and a lot of people, including players, are already feeling disconnected from the halftime show.
We’ll have to wait for a few more hours to see how Bad Bunny crafts his set tonight. But one way to get more people from the country excited about his performance would be by bringing other artists on stage as guest performers.
There are rumors that several artists may join Bad Bunny onstage tonight. Yesterday, French Montana stated that Bad Bunny will bring him on stage and they’ll perform his upcoming song. It’s worth noting that this isn’t confirmed yet.
Another popular name that was recently added to the list is Cardi B. The girlfriend of Patriots star Stefon Diggs was recently at a Fanatics event on the red carpet. Cardi has previously worked with Bad Bunny on their hit song ‘I Like It’ in 2018.
When Cardi was asked if she would be joining the headliner, she said:
“That’ll be exciting.”
Cardi refused to add any context or more details to that statement. She went on to say that she’s very proud of Bad Bunny for using his platform to spread the right message.
“I’m actually very very proud,” she said. “I’m proud of everything that he’s been standing up for against ICE and everything.”
Cardi said that everything feels aligned, in that at a time when the country is going through unrest over an illegal immigration crackdown, Bad Bunny is taking the Super Bowl stage.
Bad Bunny Called Out ICE
Bad Bunny won multiple awards at the 68th Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, including the Grammy for album of the year. When he went on stage to accept his award, Bad Bunny used that opportunity to call out ICE and urged people to spread more love.
“Before I say thanks to god, I’m gonna say ICE out,” he said.
He received thunderous applause from the stars who were in attendance for the ceremony.
“We’re not savage, we’re not animals, we’re not aliens, we are humans, and we are Americans,” he continued. “The hate gets more powerful with more hate. The only thing that is more powerful than hate is love.”
Even though Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl gig has been highly controversial, he has stayed away from adding fuel to the fire. If he puts up a great performance tonight, that’ll answer all doubts that people have about his halftime show.
