After being traded, AJ Brown is now settling in New England as he gets ready for his first season with the Patriots. However, the Super Bowl winner has also been saying a lot of things as of late, including claiming that he is the greatest wide receiver in Philadelphia Eagles history. However, not everyone agrees.
During the “Nightcap” podcast, NFL legend Shannon Sharpe and former Cincinnati Bengals star Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson talked about AJ Brown with NFL great Joe Johnson. They touched on the wide receiver’s claim to be the best in history. It is safe to say that Sharpe did not agree at all.
“AJ, bro I think you are phenomenal, you’re not the best receiver that ever played there,” he said. “You ain’y seein’ T.O. (TeRrell Owens) ever. Ever!”
Sharpe complimented AJ Brown, saying that he is phenomenal, but he would not reach the impact Terrell Owens had for the Eagles during his time there.
The assessment came when AJ Brown signed a photo of himself at the NovaCare Complex in Philadelphia and wrote: “The best to ever play here. Always Open.” This claim raised a lot of eyebrows, and Brown was blasted left and right for it.
AJ Brown Refuses To Address His Greatest Wide Receiver Claims
That claim has become a massive headache for AJ Brown. He was eventually asked about what he wrote before leaving Philadelphia, and he really did not want to address the matter.
“I’m not gonna get into that. I appreciated my time in Philly. I’m where my feet are. That’s the only thing that matters,” he said.
Brown is now trying to move on from the matter as he settles in with his new team after a successful time in Philly.
