“Incredible”: NFL Analyst In Disbelief Over 10x All-WNBA Legend’s Omission Alongside ‘Egregious’ Caitlin Clark Snub

Caitlin Clark and Alyssa Thomas made the news recently as an altercation between the two during Indiana’s matchup against Phoenix went viral. Now, as the league celebrates its 30th anniversary, the Indiana superstar has become the topic of conversation once again.

The WNBA published its commemorative poster celebrating its milestone on social media, and it featured multiple players who have set the standard over the years, including Becky Hammon and Dawn Staley, as well as current stars like A’ja Wilson, Paige Bueckers, and more.

However, the poster did not have any mention of Caitlin Clark, as teammate Sophie Cunningham took the spot reserved for the Fever instead. While Cunningham is an eight-season vet, several analysts pointed out the omission of the former Iowa sharpshooter.

NFL analyst Dan Wetzel made his thoughts clear on the incident with a post on X (formerly Twitter), saying:

“As egregious as no Caitlin Clark on this poster (and it is unreal), no Diana Taurasi is even more incredible of a slight – 3x champ, 10x all WNBA first team, MVP …”

While the omission of Clark is certainly alarming, Wetzel also pointed out the lack of a mention of Phoenix and UConn legend Diana Taurasi, who won three back-to-back national championships with the Huskies before an illustrious 20-season-long WNBA career.

Congressman Weighs In On Caitlin Clark Incident

During their matchup on Wednesday night, with 6:22 left in the game, Clark went to the floor after an attempted drive to the basket, causing a scramble for a loose ball. As multiple players tried to make a play, Alyssa Thomas appeared to punch the Indiana star in her throat.

This incident has since drawn a reaction from several big-name entities, including Congressman Tim Burchett. Speaking to TMZ, the Tennessee representative said:

“I think it’s trashy. She gets the crap kicked out of her,” Burchett continued. “Some European league is going to pull her in, and they’ll pay her, and she’ll pull out, and they’ll all be back flying coach.”

Thomas has since been suspended for a game after the WNBA reviewed the incident. The Phoenix star will miss their matchup against the Toronto Tempo.
