“He Loves the University of Texas”: Steve Sarkisian Makes Bold Remarks on Arch Manning’s Potential College Comeback for 2027 Season

Arch Manning is among the most popular college football players right now. While he was projected to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, he decided to come back for his 2nd year.

The Texas star quarterback took some time to find his rhythm last year; however, he did not meet the expectations people had for him.

Despite that, Manning is still among the most hyped up players heading into the upcoming season, with many analysts projecting him to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2027 NFL Draft.

Talking about Manning potentially coming back for another year after the 2026 season, Steve Sarkisian said on “Up and Adams” that it wouldn’t surprise him.

“We haven’t had the discussion, but I will tell you, I will tell you, I would not be surprised. I think Arch really loves college football. I really do. I think he loves the University of Texas. You know, he does pretty well in NIL. You know, he’s got some pretty good endorsements going right now, which is a credit to him and obviously the lineage of the last name and the brand of the University of Texas, all those things coming together. But again, on the same token, I won’t be surprised if he declares and decides to go to the draft. But I think some of that is dependent upon, you know, how we play as a team this fall, how he plays individually, knock on wood, injury-free football, things like that. But to your point, I wouldn’t be surprised. You know, he loves college. And again, he’s got some pretty good NIL stuff going for himself right now.”

Analyst Weighs In on Arch Manning’s Potential Future in the NFL

Analyst Andy Staples recently shared his thoughts on Arch Manning as a player, noting that while he believes the Texas star is a great college player, he has his doubts about him being a franchise quarterback.

Staples said he doesn’t believe Manning is there right now, adding that the Texas star might get there at the end of the 226 college football season.

“If you watched Arch last season, you saw a quarterback who was very much adjusting to being a first-time starter. This year, he’ll have more weapons around him. He’ll have a lot at his disposal. He will have an overwhelming talent advantage in most games. And I think we should see improvement from him. I think the way he improved over last season suggests that he’s going to be a really good quarterback in college. Is he going to be an absolutely obvious 1-1 in the NFL? I don’t know that.” Staples said.

The analyst further shared that Manning hasn’t looked like Andrew Luck, Trevor Lawrence, or Cam Newton yet, calling them the kind of guys who end up being franchise saviors.
