Former NFL linebacker Will Compton spoke about Tom Brady’s reported involvement with WWE star Logan Paul. At Fanatics Fest, Brady slapped Paul during an on-stage confrontation, fueling speculation that the pair could eventually settle their differences inside the WWE ring.
Speaking on “Bussin’ With The Boys” on July 21, the former Washington linebacker said Brady’s public feud simply does not fit the image he built throughout his NFL career.
“I hate seeing my boy TB12 doing the fake beef thing,” Compton said. “We know it’s going to be WWE. I’m not going to tune into Netflix to watch Tom Brady wrestle. I just don’t see Tommy B as a WWE superstar. I don’t know. The world that he lives in in my brain, that’s not my Tom Brady. But look, it’s his life. It’s not up for my judgment. I just hate to see it.”
The former NFL player also questioned why Brady would need to pursue such a venture, considering everything he has accomplished so far. Since retiring, Brady has expanded his business portfolio, joined Fox Sports as an NFL analyst and became a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders.
“He just looks way too pretty. He carries himself like a business guy. It’s all about success. … He doesn’t need to do this fake beef,” Compton said.
John Layfield Speaks Out on Tom Brady’s Potential WWE Debut
WWE Hall of Famer John “Bradshaw” Layfield (JBL) spoke about Brady potentially stepping into the ring, calling the crossover an opportunity that could benefit both WWE and the NFL icon.
On the “Something to Wrestle With” show on Saturday, JBL said Brady’s feud with Logan Paul has all the ingredients for a good storyline.
“I hope we do. Yeah, I think it’d be awesome. I think it’d be so much fun to have him. He did something with Cody. I saw him on a clip with Cody as well, so he’s obviously doing a lot with WWE. So I think there’s some talk that’s going on,” he said.
“I mean this is, to me, a perfect setup for it to have Tom Brady, possibly the greatest quarterback of all time,” he added. “You can argue Bradshaw, Montana lost the Super Bowl but Brady won seven. He has an argument for the GOAT debate. One of the best commentators, highest-paid commentators out there right now. He’s all over the place.
“This would be if he wanted to do it. Obviously, you’re not gonna be able to pay him enough to make it worth his while. It depends on what worth his while means. But this is something, if he wants to do it, I think he would do it. Apparently he’s got some real interest here. So, I hope we do.
“It’s hard to believe you’d see him in a singles match, but you might. I saw him hitting the bag at one of those Fanatics … (boxer arcade machine). Brother, what a punch he has. Of course, he’s a great athlete, but God, what a punch he has. He might (do a singles match). He’s obviously in great shape still, and you might see him do something. I would think it’d be more like a tag match, but you never know. That would be huge if he did.”
Whether Brady ultimately competes inside a WWE ring remains to be seen. Reports continue to link him with the promotion, but for now, reactions remain split.
