Patrick Mahomes is back for his 10th NFL season. The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback suffered a devastating knee injury last season and had to undergo surgery to repair both his ACL and LCL. He has made a speedy recovery from the injury.
Mahomes joined the Kansas City training camp to get back into the rhythm and help his team get back on track after the Chiefs failed to make the playoffs last season.
While the quarterback is back where he belongs, it was difficult for his family, especially his kids, to say goodbye to their father. Mahomes’ wife, Brittany, posted several pictures on her Instagram story, giving fans a sneak peek into the emotional family moment.
“Seeing him back doing what he loves, so thankful,” she wrote on Sunday on an Instagram reel featuring Mahomes at the training camp.
Brittany also shared pictures of Patrick Mahomes with their kids on her Instagram story.
“Training camp goodbye are getting harder. We love you!!! Go do your thang,” she wrote.
The Chiefs had a forgettable run last year. They didn’t look like a team that had built the NFL’s strongest dynasty in recent years. It was also the first time in Mahomes’ career when he didn’t make the playoffs.
The 2026 season is going to be about redemption for Mahomes and the Chiefs. With Travis Kelce returning for his 14th season with the franchise, they can manage to turn things around and possibly make another run at the Super Bowl.
Wearing a Knee Brace Won’t Affect Patrick Mahomes’ Game
The Chiefs knew that they couldn’t afford to rush Patrick Mahomes back on the field, as he is still their most valuable player. However, the quarterback showed incredible progress during rehab, and he’s looking to join the team from Week 1 of the 2026 season.
While speaking to the reporters at Missouri Western State University, Mahomes talked about wearing a brace and said that it won’t affect his game.
“There really isn’t a plan for it (wearing a brace). I’m going to start off with it just because I’ve worn it before and I feel comfortable with it, so that’s kind of where we will start, but it’s not like I’ve been told I have to wear it or how long I have to wear it,” Mahomes said.
“It’s just going to be my comfortability, how I feel. I will start with it on just because I feel like I can move and be myself with it. I played with it in college, and then we’ll just see where we go from there.”
Mahomes said that he’ll take better care of himself than he did last year. The Chiefs will play the Denver Broncos in the Week 1 matchup.
