John Harbaugh’s 2026 started unconventionally after getting fired over the phone by Baltimore Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti. However, the former coach is moving on and getting ready for his next landing spot.
The question is where. Much of the decision as to where Harbaugh will end up will be dictated by what he wants in exchange for his services and what he can get. Here’s a look at whether the head coach has visited the New York Giants.
John Harbaugh’s NFC East Visit
Last week was about wrapping up John Harbaugh’s time in Baltimore. This week is about finding his new home. According to NFL Insider Ian Rapoport in a Wednesday report, Harbaugh took a trip to the NFC East to visit the New York Giants.
“Former #Ravens coach John Harbaugh is visiting the #Giants today, sources tell me and @MikeGarafolo,” Rapoport posted. “His first in-person visit and a good sign for NYG.”
Of course, while a potential good sign, the order of which team he visits first might not be a guarantee for the direct result. Harbaugh is geographically already in the area of New York, so it could be a convenience. Harbaugh also could look at New York as the warm-up interview or the leverage interview. However, just getting in the door for any reason is a win for New York.
What Are John Harbaugh’s Demands? Inside the Super Bowl Coach’s Conditions for His Next NFL Job
In a Friday video clip via ESPN Cleveland, Cleveland Browns reporter Tony Grossi claimed that John Harbaugh had four central requirements to join an NFL team:
- $20 million per year
- $10 million staff budget
- Total authority over the roster
- Would like to select his own GM
However, in a conflicting report from CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones on Sunday, Harbaugh’s demands are much smaller, if there are any at all.
“Reports of Harbaugh’s demands are inaccurate, according to a source with knowledge,” Jones wrote. “Harbaugh will command a high salary based simply off his resume, and some level of roster say is inherent in attracting a coach of that caliber. But a demand of $20 million in salary and full roster control are not required to land Harbaugh’s services.”
One report is not automatically more accurate because it is newer, but the job market is a real thing in the NFL.
