Four NFL Teams Predicted by Analyst to Benefit as Brendan Sorsby Loses Eligibility Battle

The Brendan Sorsby story continues to take some interesting twists and turns. While he appeared to be a crucial piece of the puzzle for Texas Tech to push forward, things suddenly took a turn for the worse after his previous betting exploits came to light.

The quarterback reportedly placed around 2,900 bets totaling over $90,000 over many years, and the NCAA punished him by taking away his eligibility. A legal battle has since ensued but the latest chapter isn’t a good one for the former Cincinnati star.

Having lost his appeal against the NCAA, Sorsby now finds himself at a crossroads. Experts generally agree that Sorsby is good enough to be picked by an NFL team, but the real questions is who and how? Analyst and senior NFL reporter Albert Breer has his own theory.

Breer believes the Arizona Cardinals, New York Jets, the Miami Dolphins or the Cleveland Browns could benefit with a second round attempt at Brendan Sorsby with an eye on potential NFL draft picks for next April that could get established college names such as Jeremiah Smith or Dylan Stewart.

    What’s Next for Brendan Sorsby?

Sorsby’s fate could come down to the supplemental NFL draft, which if he chooses to enter, could give him the chance to be the first player picked by an NFL team via this route since 2019, when Arizona selected Jalen Thompson.

As Breer suggested, any of the mentioned teams could take advantage of Sorsby’s condition to push a deal through and strengthen their position in next year’s NFL draft. With Sorsby’s quality unmatched, it appears the NFL might be in his near future and someone will take a chance on the 22-year-old QB.
