Braxton Berrios Welcomes New York Trade Move With 3-Word Message For Giants Fans

The New York Giants signed veteran wide receiver and return specialist Braxton Berrios to a one-year contract on Monday. The move was a crucial response to the team’s depth after wide receiver and returner Gunner Olszewski unfortunately suffered a season-ending torn Achilles tendon during an OTA practice.

On the same day, Berrios made his feelings known on Instagram Stories about his new team. Reposting the Giants’ Instagram post, he wrote, “Go Big Blue” alongside a Statue of Liberty and Big Apple emojis.

Giants coach John Harbaugh’s niece, Grace Harbaugh, liked the team’s Instagram post.

Losing Olszewski threatened a major hole in the Giants’ hidden yardage game, but Berrios brings elite capability to the unit. He earned first-team All-Pro honors in 2021 with the New York Jets when he led the NFL by averaging 30.4 yards per kickoff return.

Over his 91 career games with the Jets, Dolphins, and Texans, he has amassed 100 punt returns for 1,130 yards (11.3 average) and 91 kickoff returns for 2,265 yards (24.9 average).

For Berrios, the upcoming season with the Giants will be his ninth NFL season. He entered the league when he was drafted by the New England Patriots in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL Draft.

Odell Beckham Jr. Returns to New York Giants Along With Braxton Berrios

Braxton Berrios was not the only veteran addition to a busy Monday workout. The Giants also added Odell Beckham Jr. on June 1.

After they first drafted him in the first round of 2014, OBJ is back in Big Blue to serve as a veteran presence.

Head coach John Harbaugh, who coached Beckham during his 2023 stint with the Baltimore Ravens, is now running the show in New York. That existing strong relationship played a massive role in getting OBJ back in the building.

To clear space for Beckham and Berrios, the Giants placed Olszewski on Injured Reserve and released veteran long snapper Zach Triner.

On Monday, OBJ made his feelings about his return known on Instagram.

“Nothin was ever given to me I worked for everything I have. Never give up on urself. Home Team i’m back…. Let’s get itttt 🕺🏿,” he wrote in the caption.

Beckham Jr. posted a video of himself in action, rocking the Giants jersey.

That said, at 33 years old and coming off a year away from football, expectations will obviously be tempered compared to OBJ’s historic 1,000-yard seasons of the mid-2010s.
