Aaron Rodgers’ Brother Reveals Stance On Brendan Sorsby Ahead Of NFL Supplemental Draft

Brendan Sorsby, declaring for the NFL Supplemental Draft, has been the talk of the town as the Texas Tech quarterback gave up his eligibility for the upcoming college football season amid pressure from the Big 12 and the NCAA, as well as multiple state attorneys general.

While he has been marred in controversy ever since the alleged betting scandal was discovered, there is no doubt in Sorsby’s potential in the eyes of Aaron Rodgers’ brother, Jordan Rodgers. Speaking on ESPN’s “Get Up” show on Monday, Rodgers said:

“I think he’s got a higher ceiling than Fernando Mendoza and Ty Simpson. I don’t mean he’s a better player now. Both of those guys were drafted because their floor is extremely high. They are pro-ready, but from a pure talent standpoint, arm ability, and athletic ability, he’s got a higher ceiling.”

According to Rodgers, while Mendoza and Simpson have a better chance of succeeding early, Sorsby can be developed into a better quarterback than both of them under the right head coach and coaching staff.

Sorsby’s declaration has also given several NFL teams a chance to grab a quarterback after evaluating their rosters during the voluntary and mandatory minicamps, which have now concluded.

Rodgers Names Three Possible Destinations for Brendan Sorsby

While Jordan Rodgers showered high praise on the Texas Tech transfer quarterback, he also acknowledged the flaws in Sorsby’s game. He also named three potential suitors that should take a chance on him, despite picking quarterbacks in the 2026 NFL draft, during the aforementioned segment of ESPN’s “Get Up.”

“My team mentioned he’s got things he’s got to clean up, and I think he will,” Rodgers said. “But if you’re Arizona, you drafted Carson Beck; the Steelers, who drafted Drew Allar; and the Jets, who drafted Cade Klubnik, he’s better than all those guys. Get a second or third-round pick, take him, and develop him. He can be a franchise guy. Those three teams haven’t found their quarterback yet. They got a chance to do so in the supplemental draft.”

The Arizona Cardinals, Pittsburgh Steelers, and the New York Jets made their rookie quarterback choices with the third, third and fourth-round picks, respectively. However, drafting Sorsby could cost them another third-round pick, depending on how the Supplemental Draft unfolds.

Neither of the rookies is set to be the starting quarterback for their respective franchises, at least to start the upcoming season, and Sorsby would add an extra level of competition for the spot, creating a competitive environment.
