Fresh out of OTAs on Wednesday, Jauan Jennings compared his fit with the Minnesota Vikings to Kevin Durant joining the Golden State Warriors.
“It’s awesome. I feel like Kevin Durant on the Warriors,” Jennings said. “Big 3, man, you know what I’m saying? It’s just a lot of talent over here, just top bottom, head down, a lot of talent.”
The comparison has drawn some skepticism, though.
One fan commented, “That’s a wild comparison. Bro really said “Big 3″ while standing next to JJ McCarthy and Kyler Murray?”
A second fan wrote, “IDK, if this brotha ever watched Kevin Durant his last season in OKC cause if he did this comment wouldn’t even have entered his brain.”
A third fan commented, “Jauan is for sure Draymond Green, lol.”
More NFL fans shared their takes.
The context is that Jennings signed a one-year deal with the Vikings and now joins superstar Justin Jefferson and rising talent Jordan Addison, forming one of the league’s most formidable passing groups.
Durant infamously joined the Warriors after their 73-win season in 2016 and they went on to win back-to-back championships. Jennings is casting himself as the major addition to an elite duo just like KD joining Curry and Thompson.
A key difference is that Jennings was a seventh-round draft pick who had to prove himself to make an NFL roster, whereas Durant went No. 2 in the 2007 NBA Draft and became a star.
Jennings has yet to win a Super Bowl or receive any Pro Bowl or All-Pro selections in his career.
Kyler Murray Calls Vikings’ Skill Positions an ‘Embarrassment of Riches’ While Speaking About Jauan Jennings
Kyler Murray’s familiarity with Jauan Jennings runs deep from years of NFC West rivalry, which came from their former teams.
As the quarterback of the Arizona Cardinals, Murray faced Jennings and the San Francisco 49ers twice every regular season. Now on the same sideline, Murray is not hiding his enthusiasm.
“I don’t know how you can’t love that (receiver) room,” Murray said on Wednesday. “Obviously you got the best receiver in the league, and then JA and the guys, you add Jauan, all the young guys that have the talent and the ability, that are hungry to go prove it. You look at the skill position in general, I know it’s widely regarded as one of the most QB-friendly offenses around the league. I’m happy to be here. I’m looking around, it’s kind of an embarrassment of riches around here.”
Murray signed a one-year contract with the Vikings on March 12. Meanwhile, the Vikings signed Jennings to a one-year deal in the offseason after a disappointing 2025 season with the 49ers.
