It has been a whirlwind of a week so far for Latin music legend Bad Bunny, as the Puerto Rican had one of the biggest Grammy wins of his life, and this would soon be followed up by his highly-anticipated Super Bowl Halftime Show performance. During the Grammy Awards, he also blasted ICE as citizens from all over the country continue to protest the crackdowns happening in the cities that Donald Trump lost.
Bad Bunny has been critical of the Trump administration, and this prompted the far-right organization ‘Turning Point USA’ to have their own alternate Super Bowl Halftime Show. This will feature Kid Rock along with other musicians, including Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice, and Gabby Barrett. Soon after this was announced, Donald Trump Jr. then shared the lineup and tried to slam the current NFL Super Bowl performer.
“I’ll take this over Woke Bunny any day of week 🇺🇸,” Tweeted Don Jr.
Bad Bunny first drew the ire of the Trump administration after he cancelled his shows over concerns that ICE would raid his concerts, especially as a majority of his fanbase is of Latin origin.
He has since blasted the administration and ICE over their heavy-handed ways of doing immigration enforcement, which led to the deaths of several civilians. His selection triggered the MAGA movement so much that they created an alternate halftime show.
Bad Bunny Has 5 Times More Listeners Than Turning Point USA’s Performers Combined, According to Spotify
As for whether Turning Point USA’s alternate Super Bowl halftime show could even rival Bad Bunny in terms of reach, they cannot. Kid Rock has around 5,142,913 monthly listeners on Spotify, while Brantley Gilbert has 2,830,964. Lee Brice has the second most with 4,888,058 monthly listeners, while Gabby Barrett has 3,891,784.
In total, they have 16,753,719 listeners, and that may be fewer people as they might have some people listening to at least two of them, or even some people listening to all four. Now, could this compete with Bad Bunny? The simple answer is no.
As it turns out, Benito alone has 82,710,768 monthly listeners and has a much more global reach, something that the NFL has been wanting to do and expand the popularity of football. That is nearly five times more listeners than TPUSA’s performers combined.
