US President Donald Trump has shared his prediction for the upcoming Super Bowl LX, scheduled to be played between Sam Darnold’s Seattle Seahawks and Drake Maye’s New England Patriots.
The two sides will meet on Feb. 8 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. Bad Bunny will perform during the halftime show.
While charting a plane to Palm Beach County, where he arrived around 9 pm on Friday, Trump faced several questions from the media regarding the Super Bowl. He refused to pick sides, spoke about both quarterbacks, Darnold and Maye, and predicted that it would be a great game.
“I can’t say that. But they are really two good teams,” Trump said. “You had one quarterback who looked like he wasn’t gonna make it and he made it. And then you have another one who’s young and they probably wish they played him last year, right?… I think it’s gonna be a great game. There’s a lot of interesting storylines.”
Will Donald Trump Attend Super Bowl LX in Bay Area?
According to CBS News, Donald Trump will spend the weekend at Palm Beach before returning on Sunday following his Super Bowl Watch Party at Mar-a-Lago. Trump is skipping attending the Super Bowl matchup in person after previously showing a dislike towards Bad Bunny performing the halftime show.
Instead, he has endorsed alternative programming such as an independent “All-American Halftime Show” put on by Turning Point USA featuring country and rock artists like Kid Rock.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters on Thursday:
“I think the president would much prefer a Kid Rock Performance over Bad Bunny, I must say that.”
In another report, Trump said the Super Bowl is being held too far:
“I would go, if you know, it was a little bit shorter.”
Interestingly, Bay Area native Green Day, who will be kicking off the Super Bowl, and Bad Bunny, who will perform at halftime, both showed support for Kamala Harris against Trump in the last presidential elections.
It remains to be seen who between Drake Maye and Sam Darnold win the Super Bowl for their respective teams.
