DK Metcalf landed in big trouble after getting into an altercation with a Detroit Lions fan. The Steelers receiver was seen grabbing and hitting the fan, leading to a two-game suspension.
The question now is, is Metcalf’s suspension over and is he eligible to play in the Steelers’ Wild Card round matchup against the Houston Texans? The good news for Pittsburgh is that Metcalf has served his suspension and will be suiting up on Monday against the Texans.
The wide receiver is essential to the team’s offense and is one of Aaron Rodgers’ favorite targets. He leads the team with 850 receiving yards and six touchdowns and is the only Steelers player with over 500 receiving yards.
However, Metcalf will be facing one of the toughest defenses in the league. The Houston Texans are known for their shutdown defense, with lockdown corners Kamari Lassiter and Derek Stingley set to provide a formidable matchup. They also have a fearsome pass rush led by Danielle Hunter and Will Anderson.
Houston Texans Head Coach DeMeco Ryans All Praise For DK Metcalf As He Returns From Suspension
Houston Texans coach DeMeco Ryans is aware of the threat DK Metcalf poses. Ryans heaped praise on the Steelers’ superstar wide receiver ahead of the game.
“Metcalf gives them their full offense,” Ryans said. “He lines up as an outside receiver. He does an outstanding job of playing physical. That’s the one thing that sticks out to me with him, is that he’s a physical receiver whether he’s running the go ball, slants, whatever. He plays physical. So, we have to challenge him. We have to step up to the challenge there, we have to play physical versus him as well. It’s going to be a tough challenge.”
He added that he expects Aaron Rodgers to be looking for him throughout the game and promised that he would have his defenders challenge him throughout.
