Dianna Russini’s Awkward Interview With Kevin O’Connell Resurfaces After Viral Bodycam Footage Reveal

The controversy surrounding Dianna Russini continues to generate headlines, with new details continuing to surface.

What began with photos of Russini and Mike Vrabel together at a luxury resort in Sedona, Arizona, going viral has now seemingly drawn another NFL head coach into the conversation.

According to a report by The New York Times, Russini attempted to use an NFL head coach’s name while speaking to a police officer during a traffic stop, a moment that caught more attention when bodycam footage resurfaced online. In the video, the officer mentions that he is a Minnesota Vikings fan. Russini then responds by saying she had just been texting Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell.

As the bodycam footage spread across social media, an older interview between Russini and O’Connell also resurfaced. During the interview, one particular comment from Russini drew renewed attention:

“We appreciate that you came on in season one when we were just a baby that nobody was listening to or watching. And now every single Minnesota Vikings blog listens to every episode. I’m sure they do. And they love me. Thanks for coming out and spending some time with us.”

The resurfaced bodycam footage also includes Russini explaining to the officer why she had pulled over:

“I’m an NFL reporter, and I just broke that Sean McDermott got fired from the Bills,” Russini said. “And that is what I was just sending, a tweet. I just pulled over because I have to make calls. I know you don’t care, but I just wanted you to know my reason why.”

Mike Florio Highlights Issue With Dianna Russini FaceTiming Kevin O’Connell To Get Out of A Ticket

Days after the Dianna Russini FaceTime story with an unnamed coach went viral, Mike Florio shared his thoughts on the situation and highlighted the alarming conflict of interest.

Florio said, “Now she owes something to that coach. That coach helped her avoid a ticket. She owes something to that coach.”

Florio added that an employee asking for a favor like that doesn’t suit a company as prestigious as the New York Times, which also owns The Athletic.

“These are the conflicts of interest and appearance of conflict of interest that The New York Times editorial guidelines and, by way of extension, The Athletic editorial guidelines try to avoid,” Florio added.

The analyst also added that while other organizations might be okay with that, The New York Times isn’t.
