As Denver Broncos and New England Patriots fans know, the AFC Championship rematch between the two teams was a decade in the making, but here we are. Tom Brady, Peyton Manning and Bill Belichick have all moved on, but their successors wasted no time continuing the playoff rivalry between the AFC teams.
However, while many predicted the playoff matchup in December, no one expected Denver to be without its most important starter, Bo Nix. Here’s a look at the status of the most important players heading into game.
Latest on Denver Broncos Injuries For AFC Championship vs New England Patriots
Bo Nix
Quarterback Bo Nix is set to undergo surgery on his ankle this week, according to NFL insider Adam Schefter. Nix sustained the injury in the win against the Buffalo Bills. Jarrett Stidham is expected to start against New England.
J.K. Dobbins
Running back J.K. Dobbins is nearing a return after missing time since Nov. 6 due to a foot injury, according to a Monday update by CBS Sports. There is “legit optimism” that the running back will play in the AFC Championship, according to Broncos insider Zac Stevens in a Monday report.
Alex Forsyth
Center Alex Forsyth is listed as questionable with an ankle injury for the AFC Championship. If he cannot play, the starting duties could fall to Sam Mustipher, if another player doesn’t become available (more on that later).
Troy Franklin
Wide receiver Troy Franklin is battling a hamstring injury that has left him questionable for the AFC Championship. Franklin’s availability questions risk adding more pressure on Courtland Sutton and the tight end room.
Pat Bryant
Pat Bryant suffered a concussion against the Buffalo Bills and is listed as questionable for the AFC Championship. It was his second concussion in less than a month and his third notable injury since the start of December, according to Draft Sharks.
Luke Wattenberg
Center Luke Wattenberg was placed on the injured reserve due to a shoulder injury. However, CBS Sports had placed a potential return date of this week. The center is questionable to play.
Dre Greenlaw
A significant free agent addition in the 2025 offseason, linebacker Dre Greenlaw appears to have been taken off the injury report and should be healthy enough to face the New England Patriots.
