The Miami Dolphins are set to hire the 21st overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft, Jalen Reagor, per Adam Schefter. Raegor, a wide receiver, has had a rocky career so far, playing for the Philadelphia Eagles (2020-2021), Minnesota Vikings (2022), New England Patriots (2023-2024), and, more recently, the Los Angeles Chargers (2024-2025).
Fans were surprised by the recent moves the Dolphins had made in free agency and the sheer number of wide receivers they have signed. They were also doubtful that this was the right move for the Miami franchise.
“Miami collecting receivers like Pokémon 😂,” joked one fan
“Miami really said “depth over drama,” but this man has had more fresh starts than a Monday morning gym membership. Is this finally the system that unlocks him or just another stop on the tour?,” pointed out another individual
“The Dolphins got the WR room of all time,” said one person ironically
Other fans did support the decision.
“Reagor’s got the talent and still only 26 speed like that can always flash in McDaniel’s scheme if he gets a real shot. Depth piece with upside, Dolphins WR room just got more interesting. Let’s see what he does in camp 🔥,” explained one person
“We should be favored to win AFC now,” ventured someone else
Is Miami becoming the dumping place for failed first-round wide receivers?
“Dolphins collecting former first-round WRs like Pokémon cards,” was a common comment in X
“Somewhere a 2020 Eagles fan just felt a disturbance in the force,” was yet another common joke
At least the Dolphins are adding speed, right?
“Tyreek, Waddle, and now Reagor? Miami is literally just building an Olympic track team at this point. 🏃💨Mike McDaniel saw a player with speed and couldn’t resist. The track meet continues in Miami,” pointed out another person
Jalen Reagor’s stats in the 2024 season
While he was with the Chargers for the preseason of the 2025 season, Jalen Reagor was cut and signed to the practice squad before the start of the campaign. He was ultimately let go in mid-October and didn’t play a single game of the season.
Hence, 2024 is the last set of statistics that are available on him. He played in eight games, catching seven passes for an unimpressive 100 yards with no scores. He hasn’t cracked above 138 yards (Which he achieved in 2023 with New England) since his sophomore season, when he recorded 299 yards for the Eagles.
His best year was his rookie campaign, when he had 396 yards, with one touchdown in 11 games and 31 receptions. Not necessarily impressive either.
