The San Francisco 49ers are fighting for their lives as they must win against the Tennessee Titans to stay in the playoff picture. The question is, will Christian McCaffrey be playing on Sunday? The Niners have been plagued by injuries all season long, and McCaffrey appearing late in the team’s injury report has caused concern among fans and Fantasy managers alike.
Should he miss Sunday’s contest against the Titans, it would be bad for the 49ers, especially as head coach Kyle Shanahan loves to play the running game. For the 2025 season, Christian McCaffrey has already tallied 849 rushing yards, 806 receiving yards and a total of 13 touchdowns.
Is Christian McCaffrey Injured?
Earlier this week, Christian McCaffrey appeared on the Niners injury report due to an unspecified illness, though he was soon taken out. On Saturday, however, he raised plenty of concerns after he appeared again, this time with a back issue just one day before the big game.
The nature of that back issue was not revealed, though it is believed to be not that serious. He is officially listed as “questionable.”
Will Christian McCaffrey Play Today vs. Titans?
Despite his late appearance on the injury report, fans and Fantasy managers need not worry about the 49ers running back, as ESPN’s Adam Schefter has reported that he is expected to play against the Titans and is already “good to go.”
“Despite being added to the injury report today as questionable due to a back injury, 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey is expected to be “good to go” Sunday vs. the Titans, per source,” reported Schefter.
It should be noted that fans should approach this one with caution, as McCaffrey playing is not yet official, he is just expected to play.
On the odd chance should McCaffrey not be able to play, the next one in the depth chart is Brian Robinson Jr., who certainly has a lot to prove should the starting running back go down. He has had 328 yards and two touchdowns this year and will be looking to further that should McCaffrey sit this one out.
As for Fantasy managers who have him for their teams, they should not be too worried, as the chances of the Niners RB1 taking to the field is higher than not, so it should be safe to start him.
