Jared Goff is well along in his life as a bona fide star quarterback for the Detroit Lions. However, the quarterback wasn’t always established in his career or in his love life. Both took shape around the same time as Goff and his wife, Christen Goff, met early in his career when he was with the Los Angeles Rams.
Christen pulled back the curtain on how she met the quarterback and talked about their first date in a People video clip posted on Instagram on Friday. Harper revealed that she met Goff on Raya, a dating app reserved mostly for celebrities and people of status.
“It was on a dating app,” she said. “I think both of us were not taking it too seriously. You never think you’re going to meet someone on a dating app, but we did. He picked me up for our first date and he took me to one of my favorite restaurants. I didn’t know that at the time, but now it’s still my favorite restaurant.
“We just hit it off right from the start. … I got this sweet guy energy, which he is the sweetest. … He opened my car door and I was like ‘I don’t think this has ever happened before.’ He was just the best from Day 1.”
Jared and Christen started dating in 2019, according to Brides. The two were married on June 22, 2024 in Ojai, California.
Christen Goff Declares Game-Day Feelings Throughout Jared Goff’s Career
As Jared Goff’s wife, Christen Goff has been part of many game days in the quarterback’s career. The Sports Illustrated model spoke about her mindset on Sundays in a June 11 WAG World episode via People.
“I definitely am fully locked in,” Christen said. “Game day is not like, I don’t know, butterflies and roses. We’re locked in. It’s my game day, too.”
Since the two met, Jared has become one of the most famous quarterbacks in the NFL. Most recently, the quarterback went on arguably his best run in 2023 when he led the Lions to the doorstep of the Super Bowl before losing in the conference championship. In 2024, he followed that up by helping the Lions to a 15-2 record.
Goff’s new peak with the Lions dismantled predictions made by critics who expected much less after he was traded from the Los Angeles Rams in 2021, and Christen has been around to see it all. As such, she has as much reason to be locked-in as her husband.
