Chiefs Free Agency Signings 2026: Full List of Kansas City’s Latest Moves Including Kenneth Walker, Alohi Gilman, And More

The Kansas City Chiefs are desperately looking to get back into Super Bowl contention in 2026.

This comes off as one of the club’s worst seasons in years. The Chiefs finished with an overall record of 6-11 in 2025. It was their first losing season since 2012, when the Chiefs finished 2-14 under head coach Romeo Crennel.

Since then, led by franchise quarterback Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs have won three Super Bowls while appearing in five. 2025 was a tumultuous campaign for Kansas City, which struggled to compete in the AFC amidst an inconsistent offense and a weak pass rush.

Losing Patrick Mahomes in Week 15 to a torn ACL and LCL in December certainly didn’t help matters. His status for Week 1 of the 2026 NFL season is still very much in question, as recovery for such an injury typically takes up to nine months.

Meanwhile, the Kansas City front office has been doing everything in its power to help Mahomes and company return to championship form. That began with the signing of former Seattle Seahawks running back and reigning Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III.

Walker is fresh off a Lombardi Trophy win with the Seahawks and inked a three-year deal with the Chiefs worth $43.05 million. This is huge for the Chiefs, who have been in dire need of an upgrade at the running back position for years. He’ll join Mahomes in the backfield, hopefully taking a load off the two-time NFL MVP’s shoulders on offense.

To help matters, Mahomes will retain his longtime favorite target in veteran tight end Travis Kelce. The 36-year-old has long been rumored to be considering retirement from the NFL for the past few seasons. However, he’ll once again return for at least one more year with the Chiefs, the team he has remained with for the past 11 seasons since being drafted by the club in 2013.

Kelce and the Chiefs came to an agreement on a one-year deal worth $12 million that could reach up to $15 million.

The Chiefs also added some help on the defensive side of the ball by signing Baltimore Ravens safety Alohi Gilman. He joins the Chiefs on a three-year, $24.75 million deal with $15 million guaranteed. He’ll add some much-needed help to a Chiefs secondary that has already lost cornerbacks Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson, as well as safety Bryan Cook.

The Chiefs also added depth behind star pass-rusher Chris Jones with the signing of former New England Patriots defensive tackle Khyiris Tonga, whom they signed to a three-year, $21 million deal. He joins the Chiefs off a career year in Foxborough, where he recorded 24 tackles, two for a loss, two quarterback hits, and two pass deflections in the 14 games he played.

Kansas City also added some depth at both cornerback and wide receiver, signing Kader Kohou from the Dolphins and re-signing Tyquan Thornton to one-year deals, respectively.
