Jordyn Tyson’s big day was to be immortalized with a high pick in the NFL Draft, but before he could enjoy the fruits of his labor in college, he had to deal with a personal tragedy.
Tyson explained before the draft that a family member had died the previous day.
“My mom’s grandma also passed away last night so it’s also been an emotional one (night) for her, but we’re fighting through it, trying to make the best out of this situation and it’s part of god’s plan,” he told ESPN.
In the same interview, he also spoke about his niece’s birth the night before and paid tribute to his brother Jaylon.
“It’s been amazing (last 24 hours), honestly, I’m an uncle now, I feel a little older,” he said.
“Same exact shoes he wore,” Jordyn confirmed during the same interview. “He couldn’t be here with us today because he has a game today obviously at the same time as us so had to bring him here somehow,” Tyson continued.
He also confirmed he’ll be watching his brother in action via his iPad, cheering on the Cleveland Cavaliers star.
Jaylon was selected at No. 20 by the Cavaliers in the 2024 draft.
