The Baltimore Ravens went without picking a new quarterback this NFL Draft, which is understandable for a team that has Lamar Jackson on its roster. However, they do need a backup quarterback, and given the lack of depth on their roster, they went on the open market and signed undrafted free agents Joe Fagnano and Diego Pavia.
The current Baltimore quarterback depth chart looks as follows:
- QB1: Lamar Jackson
- QB2: Tyler Huntley
- QB3: Diego Pavia
- QB4: Joe Fagnano
The reality is that who will take QB3 duties is likely a question that will be answered during the preseason training camp. It could seem that Diego Pavia, a Heisman finalist with a very similar playstyle to Lamar Jackson, would take precedence over the more traditional Fagnano.
On the other hand, Pavia is a walking PR time bomb, and his future depends as much on how he integrates into the locker room as on how well he performs in practice. Time will tell.
Initially, the QB2 duties will likely go to Tyler Huntley, who has a long history with the Ravens, having played with them between 2020 and 2023, and again in 2025. He also has significant experience, having 16 starts in the NFL.
Fagnano had a lengthy college career, playing seven seasons of college football between Maine (FCS) and UConn (FBS). He started at Maine in 2022, leading them to a 2-9 record, and eventually was UConn’s starter for the 2025 season, with a record of 9-3.
Pavia, on the other hand, played at the NCJAA with the New Mexico Military Institute, and then with New Mexico State and Vanderbilt in the FBS, rising to prominence in his two years as a starter with the Commodores.
Who did the Baltimore Ravens Draft in the First Round of the NFL Draft?
In the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft last week, the Baltimore Ravens chose offensive guard Olaivavega Ioane out of Penn State with the 14th overall pick. He was a starter for the Nittany Lions for three seasons, having been with them for four years.
In 2025, he received First-team All-American and First-team All-Big Ten in 2025, and Second-team All-Big Ten honors in 2024.
