Calls Mount for Aaron Rodgers to Retire as Texans Humble Steelers in Playoffs

Is this the end of Aaron Rodgers’ NFL career? Football fans think so. In June 2025, 41-year-old Rodgers signed a one-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers. To his credit, he took his team to the playoffs.

However, the first game of the playoffs in the Wild Card Round is as far as his season campaign went. Rodgers’ team took a humiliating 6-30 loss at home against the Houston Texans and is now eliminated from the playoffs.

Rodgers went 17 of 33 for 146 yards and one interception. Although the entire Steelers unit collapsed, the blame is going to be pinned on Rodgers, at least by the fans. And they are not holding back while demanding retirement from the former Super Bowl winner.

“Aaron Rodgers, you should retire. You looked like a 90 year old nursing home patient out there tonite playing vs. the Houston Texans’ No. 1 defense in the NFL. Sheesh. Pittsburgh, I’m so happy you d**kriders lost. You got DAWG STOMPED in your own house,” a fan wrote.

“Aaron Rodgers gone head and retire my boy,” a fan wrote.

“Rodgers it’s time to retire you punk a** b**ch a** QB,” a fan wrote.

“Aaron Rodgers last game in the #NFL be like.  Time to retire.  #Steelers,” a fan wrote.

“Steelers about to retire Rodgers AND Tomlin?” a fan wrote.

“Aaron Rodgers needs to retire after this season,” a fan wrote.

The game wasn’t as lopsided as it looks on the final scorecard. Going into the fourth quarter, the Steelers were just one point behind. Then the Texans suffered a setback when Nico Collins got carted off due to a concussion.

Despite that, the Steelers failed to push back and allowed the Texans to go on a 23-0 run in the fourth quarter to close the game 30-6.

Aaron Rodgers Still Has Love for the Game

Rodgers has been in these situations before. The difference, however, is that he is 42 years old now, and his contract with the Steelers expires soon. So, how long can he keep going, and more importantly, does he want to keep going?

As per Rodgers, he still has love for the game. He still enjoys the process of preparing for games throughout the week and getting an opportunity to step on the field during weekends.

“I embrace all the moments. I enjoy all of it. There’s a lot of beauty in the mundane. The mundane is the Monday to Saturday when you can actually win games. I embrace that part of the job and I’ve loved it,” he said.

Rodgers made it clear that the only reason why he’s still playing is that he enjoys the process.
