“Your Best Bet Is Just Be Gay”: Steph Curry’s Former Teammate Unloads On Jaden Ivey For Mocking God’s “Golden Child” In Explosive Rant

Jaden Ivey has landed in hot water after his recent statement about the league supporting the LGBTQIA+ community. And now, Steph Curry’s former teammate, Nick Young, has also joined the conversation. Ivey also unleashed a rant on the 4-time NBA champion, claiming that he was not a “Christian,” as he cursed like the others. The Chicago Bulls guard was waived by the team, citing actions “detrimental to the team.”

Ivey, the son of Notre Dame coach Niele Ivey, in another Instagram live session, talked about why the team management decided to waive him after his stance on LGBTQIA+ went viral on social media. However, Young, the 2018 NBA champion with the Golden State Warriors, backed his former teammate and sharpshooter, Curry, and asked Ivey not to talk about the “golden child.”

In a video on Instagram, the Gil’s Arena co-host said:

“I hate to say it, you take a stance like that, you’re done… You say something about Steph Curry, you’re calling the golden child not a Christian, oh yeah… Jaden Ivey, your best bet now is just be gay. You’re done, you’re talking about Steph Curry, now you just gotta get to your side to come back. Don’t you ever talk about Steph Curry. You know God done blessed him, the NBA done blessed him. You done told God’s favorite child that he’s not a Christian. I can’t believe this s**t.

Young also talked about Ivey’s side of things and stated that he knew how it felt when a player gets cut from the team. He referred to his trade in 2018 after the Warriors won the title. The former Detroit Pistons guard was traded to the Bulls earlier during the mid-season trade period.

“I’m not the J.I. I used to be,” Jaden Ivey on not playing due to coach’s decision

After the Bulls’ February 19 game against the Toronto Raptors, in which he did not play due to the coach’s decision, Jaden Ivey was visibly upset with the management. Talking to the media, he said:

“I’m not the J.I. I used to be. The old J.I. is dead. I’m alive in Christ no matter what the basketball setting is.”

As per ESPN’s sources, several team staff members felt that Jaden Ivey was “preachy” in the locker room. He was known for his religious stance, even when he was part of the Pistons, but this time it seemed things went out of hand.

Ivey was already ruled out of the 2025-26 season due to a knee injury, but now that the team has decided to waive him, his future in the league is uncertain.
