“Can’t Wait Till Sixers Fans Boo LeBron”: Dave Portnoy Claims $1,400,000,000 Star Will Flop In Philadelphia

LeBron James ended weeks of NBA free agency speculation on Friday by announcing that he will join the Philadelphia 76ers. While many people praised the blockbuster move, Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy predicted that the experiment would end in disaster. James, whose net worth is $1.4 billion according to Forbes, said he was chasing one final championship and insisted the decision was not about money.

“I still want to compete, to win and to have a chance at the feeling of winning another championship,” James wrote while confirming his move.

Portnoy, however, isn’t buying the hype. Reacting shortly after the news broke, he initially admitted he loved the drama surrounding the move and later questioned whether James could coexist with co-Philadelphia stars Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and Jaylen Brown.

“BRON BRON IN PHILLY….I LOVE IT! Do they know there is only 1 basketball? I can’t wait till Sixers fans boo LeBron,” Portnoy wrote on X.

In the video, he doubled down on his prediction that the Sixers would fall apart.

“He’s trying to go do a super team. This team is not going to win. This team is not going to win. It’s going to be delicious. You know what is that GIF of Cartman, like licking tears? When this team implodes, and there’s only one basketball, and Embiid has one tendonitis left, and LeBron is huffing and puffing and reading books and being passive-aggressive, he is going to get booed out of Philly. This guy is going to get booed out of Philly. And Philly, you know you hate this guy. You get exactly what you deserve,” he said.

Despite the skepticism, James made it clear that winning another title remains his only objective.

Alongside the announcement, Topps released a commemorative Topps NOW trading card celebrating James’ arrival in Philadelphia, giving collectors their first officially licensed Sixers-themed LeBron memorabilia.

James also leaves behind an eight-year run with the Los Angeles Lakers, where he captured the 2020 NBA championship, became the league’s all-time leading scorer and made history by sharing the court with his son Bronny James.

Whether James wins the championship with Philadelphia remains to be seen.
