Luka Doncic is facing a significant personal battle following his split with ex-fiancee, Anamaria Goltes.
TMZ obtained court documents filed by Doncic and his lawyer, Laura Wasser, in which he requested that the court dismiss Goltes’ child support filing in California, citing that she is not a resident. The report also states that Doncic had been trying to get Goltes to move to California with their kids since May 2025, and that her refusal to return to the United States ultimately led to the end of their engagement.
Doncic and his lawyer also described Anamaria Goltes’ filing in California as an “attempt to forum shop and avail herself of the generous amounts of child support for which California is well-known.”
In the court documents, Doncic also said he had filed a petition in Slovenia in February regarding custody and child support before Anamaria filed her petition this month.
According to a report from ESPN, Goltes called the police on Doncic while he was in Slovenia for the birth of their second daughter. Reportedly, Doncic was insistent on bringing his daughter back to America, which led to a disagreement that culminated in the police being called.
In a statement to ESPN, Doncic said:
“I love my daughters more than anything and I’ve been doing everything I can for them to be with me in the U.S. during the season, but that hasn’t been possible, so I recently made the tough decision to end my engagement. Everything I do is for my daughters’ happiness and I will always fight to be with them and give them the best life I can.”
Luka Doncic makes NBA history amid custody battle with Anamaria Goltes
Luka Doncic’s personal battle with Anamaria Goltes has not stopped the Los Angeles Lakers guard from performing at a high level. Doncic entered the history books on Saturday, becoming the first player in league history to score 30 points in each game of a nine-game winning streak.
This run from Doncic and Co. has seen the team grab third place in the Western Conference with a 46-25 record. The guard is recording 40.0 points, 8.4 rebounds and 7.4 assists per game over this run.
But the Lakers’ winning streak is in jeopardy with Doncic picking up his 16th technical foul of the season against the Orlando Magic on Saturday. The Lakers have appealed for the foul to be rescinded.
A decision on the matter could arrive soon as the team prepares for an important matchup against the Eastern Conference leaders, the Detroit Pistons, on Monday.
