According to a report from Shams Charania, the Milwaukee Bucks were close to trading their star player, Giannis Antetokounmpo, to the Miami Heat ahead of this season’s Feb. 5 deadline.
The Bucks received offers from multiple teams, including the Heat, Golden State Warriors, New York Knicks and more. Charania’s report only states the Heat’s offer as the one that was being considered in Milwaukee.
Miami was willing to offer the Bucks Tyler Herro, Kel’el Ware and multiple draft picks. Charania also states that the deal was close to being accepted before the Bucks’ leadership pulled out, anticipating a stronger offer this summer.
While Antetokounmpo was not moved midseason, it is becoming increasingly likely that he will depart Milwaukee this summer. Especially in light of the current situation, as Giannis and the Bucks continue to go back and forth after he claimed that he was being held out of games despite being available.
“For somebody to come and tell me to not play or not to compete, it’s like a slap in my face,” Antetokounmpo told reporters April 3. “I’m available to play, but I’m not in the game. I’m available to play today. Right now. I’m available. So, I don’t know where the relationship goes from there.”
Giannis Antetokounmpo is reportedly eager to play with his brothers on the Bucks
According to Shams Charania, Giannis Antetokounmpo’s eagerness to play is not only because of his availability but also because he wishes to play with his brothers before the season is over.
Giannis is hoping to share the court with Alex and Kostas, as Charania reported on Monday.
“Giannis is trying to ramp up this week from my understanding…he wants to play with his brothers before the regular season ends, he’s making very clear behind the scenes that’s his goal,” Charania said.
With four games left on Milwaukee’s schedule, it remains unclear whether Antetokounmpo will get to share the court with his siblings before the season ends. If not now, the Greek Freak might not get another opportunity as his time with the Bucks is largely expected to end this summer.
