Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks have been at loggerheads since the midseason trade period. It has also led to a to-and-fro between the two sides, prompting the league to plan anti-tanking measures to prevent teams from deliberately shutting down players. The Bucks forward has now opened up about the tussle with the team’s front office.
Rumors of Giannis’ trade have been swirling on social media for a long time now. However, the Greek Freak has been denying all possibilities of his divorce from the team. In a recent update shared to The Athletic on X, the Bucks forward said:
“We gotta go into couples therapy. Go, consultation, couples therapy, sit down, you know, tell their side. I’m going to tell my side and find a solution. Amicably. Right? That’s the word. Find a solution together.”
This is not the first time Giannis has denied the possibility of a trade, despite several rumors of other teams pursuing him in trade. Meanwhile, the league has launched an investigation into the matter and is in conversation with the team. Earlier, he even launched a rant against the Bucks, stating that he did not expect the team to ask him to shut down for the season.
“I want to f***ing play,” Giannis Antetokounmpo speaks about his tussle with the Bucks
Before the Milwaukee Bucks played their last game against the Boston Celtics, Giannis Antetokounmpo opened up about his situation with the team. The players’ association, NBPA, also stated that the team was withholding the Bucks forward even when he was healthy and ready to play. Talking to the media, Giannis said, via The Athletic:
“I’ve never seen a case of a player saying, my caliber of player, that’s like — I’m saying it publicly — I want to f—ing play. You know what I’m saying? I don’t think I’ve seen this. So, if there needs to be an investigation, great. There should be. I don’t know. There should be. Until we figure something out.”
The Bucks are officially out of playoff contention and will face the Memphis Grizzlies in their next game. Giannis was out of the rotation, citing a knee injury and a bone bruise. Only time will tell when he will return to the court again.
