What Happened to Isiah Thomas’ Face? NBA Hall of Famer’s Health Concerns Explored After Latest Appearance Sparks Worry Among Fans

NBA Hall of Famer Isiah Thomas joined the Throwback NBA Broadcast and talked about his time on the panel. However, his appearance on camera worried fans, who were concerned about his swollen face and wondered about his health. Let’s explore in depth what happened to the 2-time NBA champion’s face.

Several fans expressed concerns on seeing Thomas with a swollen face and prayed for his well-being. NBA History uploaded the video on Instagram, in which the former NBA superstar said:

“Having the opportunity to work with Bob Costas, Doug Collins and learn from them from such a young age… I was mentored right.”

What happened to Isiah Thomas’ face?

In 2024, featuring on the Come And Talk 2 Me podcast, Isiah Thomas revealed that he was suffering from a condition called Bell’s Palsy, a short-term condition that causes weakness in muscles on one side of the face and can make the face look swollen. He said:

“I haven’t really told anybody, but I’ve got Bell’s palsy. … That’s why you see me like this. I appreciate the prayers and the love. That’s what’s happening with my mouth right now. I just wanted everyone to know that.”

Thomas had earlier assured fans that this was a temporary condition and that he would be better with time. However, his latest appearance on ESPN has led fans to question the improvement in his health.

Thomas was the most crucial part of the “Bad Boys” Detroit Pistons era, when the team had a fierce rivalry with Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls. The two again locked horns after MJ’s documentary on Netflix, The Last Dance, was released.

The 1990 Finals MVP did not like how the 6-time NBA champion portrayed the situation between the two teams and called him out for demeaning Thomas on a public platform. Besides all the debates, NBA fans have united to wish good health for the NBA legend and 12-time NBA All-Star, Isiah Thomas.
