Kevin Durant is under fire on social media with fans claiming that the X burner account linked to him allegedly made comments on USC Trojans star JuJu Watkins.
Shortly after NBA All-Star Sunday tipped off, Durant started trending on X with fans linking him to @gethigher77. It is now being alleged that Durant also used that account to criticize Watkins.
X account @playoffzinzy brought the claim forward, alleging that Durant had called Notre Dame’s Hannah Hidalgo a better player than Watkins. The claims could not be verified as the original tweets by @gethigher77 have since been deleted.
But that hasn’t stopped fans from discussing the issue on social media, with many coming to the defense of the USC star. Kevin Durant, meanwhile, has yet to publicly acknowledge the situation.
His alleged comments on Watkins are just one part of the equation. Screenshots of @gethigher77’s DMs, which are going viral on X, also include criticism for Durant’s Houston Rockets teammates, Alperen Sengun and Jabari Smith.
The account also seemingly criticized Steph Curry, James Harden and Kyrie Irving, who have all shared the court with KD in the past. The screenshots continue being circulated on social media and have been dubbed by fans as the “KD files.”
Kevin Durant’s All-Star Game appearance draws fan speculation
Fans noted Kevin Durant’s frequent phone use at the All-Star Game as the “KD files” continue to go viral on social media. X account @LogionNoops shared a video on the platform, which shows the forward using his phone throughout All-Star Sunday.
Fans reacted to the clip, suggesting that Durant’s behavior could be connected to the ongoing speculation. Regardless, it has yet to be confirmed whether @gethigher77 belongs to KD or not.
The Rockets forward will be focused on helping his team to a win when they return to action against the Charlotte Hornets on Thursday. Durant is averaging 25.8 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game, shooting 50.6%. Houston is in fourth place in the Western Conference with a 33-20 record.
