“Trump Messed Up The Knicks Sweep”: Jemelle Hill, Max Kellerman Troll Donald Trump After Knicks Make History in Game 4

The New York Knicks can end a 53-year championship drought with a victory over the San Antonio Spurs in Game 5 of the NBA Finals this weekend. Thus far, all the Spurs have to show for their efforts in this series is a solitary win in Game 3 on Monday night.

The Spurs appeared to have Game 4 on Wednesday wrapped up, but blew a 29-point lead. The Knicks pulled off the biggest comeback in NBA Finals history inside a packed Madison Square Garden, rebounding in style after their Game 3 defeat.

Game 3, of course, was in the spotlight because of U.S. President Donald Trump’s attendance. Coincidentally, it’s the only game in this series that the Knicks did not win.

Media personality Jemele Hill joked that Trump was to blame for the Knicks failing to pull off a sweep.

“Trump messed up the Knicks sweep,” Jemele Hill of The Athletic tweeted.

Similarly, Max Kellerman trolled the President while giving props to the New York-based hip hop act that put on a rousing halftime performance.

“Trump shows up loss. Wu Tang shows up win,” Kellerman tweeted.

The comeback reached a crescendo when OG Anunoby elevated for an offensive rebound and tipped in the ball off a Jalen Brunson miss with 1.2 seconds left. The Spurs had been in control of the game for all but the last minute and a half of the fourth quarter, and Anunoby’s tip-in was the counterpunch that San Antonio couldn’t recover from.

Brunson finished with 36 points, five rebounds, and seven assists while Anunoby pumped in 33 points on 10-for-15 shooting from the field. On the Spurs side, Victor Wembanyama had 24 points, 13 boards, and zero turnovers.

Though New York City mayor Zohran Mamdani has called for Knicks supporters to celebrate the finals responsibly, some fans still got carried away after Game 4.

A clip showed Wembanyama getting pelted with objects as he disembarked from the team bus en route to the Spurs’ hotel in the Big Apple.

Earlier in the series, dozens of individuals were arrested at a finals watch party outside Madison Square Garden as mayhem unfolded following a Knicks win. That same night, an NYPD officer was punched as he joined crowd control efforts.
