Stunning Luka Doncic Twist as New Custody Battle Update Hints at Massive Lakers News

There has been a new development in Luka Doncic’s ongoing custody battle with his former fiancée, Anamaria Goltes. It was confirmed last month that Goltes had filed a petition in a California court seeking child support for her and the Lakers star’s two daughters.

A new court filing obtained by The California Post shows that Doncic and his attorney have agreed to a request to push the hearing date of his legal battle with Goltes until August. The hearing was originally scheduled for May 14.

The original date would have coincided with a potential second-round run for the Lakers. According to the New York Post, all of the alternative dates suggested by Doncic and his team were beyond June 18, the day before Game 7 of the NBA Finals is scheduled.

The hearing has now been postponed until Aug. 14. The legal battle between Goltes and Doncic, who had been together since they were teenagers, stems from Doncic’s visit to Slovenia in December for the birth of his and Goltes’ second daughter.

The Daily Mail reported that Doncic sought Goltes’ permission to take his older daughter back to Los Angeles. Goltes rejected his request, and law enforcement was eventually called to the scene.

Doncic has been sidelined with a hamstring injury since the start of April. Despite missing their leading scorer, the Lakers are holding a 3-1 lead over the Rockets ahead of Wednesday’s Game 5.

Lakers receive positive injury news with Luka Doncic’s return looming

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, Lakers guard Austin Reaves could return for Game 5 of their first-round series against the Rockets on Wednesday.

“Austin Reaves could play on Wednesday in Game 5 … Luka Doncic will not be returning in this series.”

Reaves has also been out since the start of April after suffering an oblique injury. He averaged 23.3 points, 4.7 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game in the regular season, shooting 49.0%.

With the Lakers holding a 3-1 lead against the Rockets, the second round doesn’t look far for them, and with it, neither does Doncic’s return.
