Kevin Durant has had an adversarial relationship with the media for years. On Tuesday, Durant name-checked two analysts that he’s apparently most displeased with.
In a pair of Instagram stories, the Houston Rockets superstar shared an image with the caption “1 has to go…who?” Among the nine media personalities shown in the image, Durant decided to “do away” with Fox Sports’ Colin Cowherd and Nick Wright.
“Pack that lame @colincowherd up. Basketball would actually move forward if @getnickwright wasn’t involved. Hold up”
Durant, who is known to be highly active on social media, likely recalls the criticism that Cowherd and Wright have hurled at him over the last few months.
In an appearance on the “Club 520” podcast this past May, Cowherd took a shot at Durant’s legacy, which has seen the two-time NBA champion going from one team to another. Cowherd likened Durant to a boat, saying that his teams perked up the most when they acquired him and when they parted ways with him.
A few weeks before that, Wright wondered out loud on his “What’s Wright” podcast if Durant would become the first Hall of Famer to not have his jersey retired by any of his teams.
Though Cowherd and Wright were called out by Durant, there are other personalities on the image he shared that he has a history with. Charles Barkley, for one, infamously labelled Durant a “bus rider” instead of a “bus driver” on the 2017 and 2018 championship squads fielded by the Golden State Warriors.
“Can’t Be Stunned”: Kevin Durant Shares Candid Reaction to Jaylen Brown Trade
On Tuesday, Kevin Durant was having a blast at the 2026 MLB All-Star Game. While he was at Philadelphia’s Citizens Bank Park, Durant was asked whether he was “stunned” to learn about the Jaylen Brown trade to the 76ers.
KD, who has been in the NBA for 19 years, claimed that he shrugged off the blockbuster news.
“Can’t be stunned. It’s the NBA, man. Luka Doncic got traded in the middle of the night.”
Durant added that he was “excited” for Brown to begin a new chapter of his career alongside Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid in Philly.
