Stephon Castle and his family are praying for the San Antonio Spurs to come out of the conference finals as the victors. After the back-to-back losses in Game 2 and 3, the Spurs face a must-win situation if they aim to be in the series with a chance to win. Only 15 teams in NBA history have come back after trailing 1-3. Amid this, Momma Castle shared an emotional take on X.
The Thunder bench came up big in the third game, beating San Antonio’s reserved 76-23. Jared McCain led the bench with 24 points, from 10-21 shooting. Castle’s mother seemed to be worried about the day, as she posted a GIF on X and wrote:
“Today will be hard {broken heart emojis}.”

However, Castle’s mom cleared fans’ doubts in the comments and said she wasn’t worried about her son’s victory because it was inevitable. This means Momma Castle might be suffering a personal struggle. She wrote:
“This has nothing to do with the Spurs. They will win.”
However, constant fans’ comments about Momma Castle’s concern for the Spurs led her to delete the post from X. In a frustrating tone, she said:
“I removed my post. The lack of awareness from some people is disappointing. This is real life. Stay off my timeline.”
Even though Castle’s mother had no doubts about the Spurs’ chances in Game 4, fans would be anxious for the next game. The Thunder have won consecutive games and look lethal to the Spurs’ title chances this season. However, the guard has performed exceptionally in his debut postseason, commanding the offense from the top of the key.
Stephon Castle highlights Keldon Johnson’s offensive woes in NBA semifinals
Stephon Castle addressed the media after the Spurs lost Game 3, 108-123. He scored 14 points in the game, 11 of which came from free throws. He shot just 1-8 from the field. Reigning Sixth Man of the Year Keldon Johnson’s production, on the other hand, has seen a steep drop in the postseason.
Johnson has averaged 9.3 points and 2.3 rebounds in the ongoing series against the Thunder. In Game 3, he contributed five points, shooting 1-4 from deep. Castle addressed the media’s questions about him and said:
“Maybe he’s in his head a little bit. I think just the way he’s been for us all year is just what we need him to be, but it just comes with his aggressiveness on the defensive end first and just allowing the game to come to him.”
The Spurs’ defense is one of their most highly rated skills this season. That has surely converted to transition buckets and several forced turnovers that have put the team ahead in crucial situations. Time will tell if they will be able to tie the series in Game 4 and keep the words of Momma Castle.
