Steph Curry ‘Absolutely Frustrated’ by Lingering Knee Injury as Warriors Face Make-or-Break Playoff Stretch

A player of Steph Curry’s caliber should be on the court most of the time during a game, but that is not what’s happened in the last few games for the Golden State Warriors. The 4-time NBA champion is out due to a knee injury, and the Warriors have lost five of their last seven games. The sharpshooter let his feelings be known, sitting on the bench at a crucial time.

The NBA All-Star break has ended, and teams are gearing up to make a final push in the postseason. As the league gets into the final phase of the regular season, the Warriors are placed eighth in a stacked Western Conference, which is not a safe spot to be, even if they are eyeing a play-in berth.

Chef Curry’s frustration was evident as the team needed him. He said:

“It’s frustrating not being out there, especially with an injury that doesn’t necessarily have a specific timeline you can trust. So I’m staying patient, and hopefully back sooner rather than later. We all know the goal is to be healthy come play-in or playoff time, whatever it is.
We kind of know where we’re slotted in the standings right now. A lot has happened this year, so we just want to get in a playoff series and have a chance. I’m feeling all right. I absolutely hate it, but there’s a reason for everything, so I’m trying to figure it out.”

The Warriors now have an offensive and defensive option in Kristaps Porzingis, but the absence of Curry has exposed them in front of good defensive teams. Draymond Green’s lack of production has also hurt them and has led the team management to make a decision on his playing time.

Head coach Steve Kerr made it clear that the staff and the team have decided not to close the games with Green on the floor. He also added that the front office will look to decrease his minutes and give Curry maximum playing time when he returns.

Will Draymond Green’s decreased role help Steph Curry and Co.?

HC Steve Kerr revealed that Draymond Green was pleased to do all he could for the benefit of the team and took it “unbelievably well.” However, whether that will help the team in clutch situations is still a big question.

Even though Green does not contribute much to scoring, he is a crucial anchor, especially during clutch plays. He has an innate chemistry with Steph Curry and operates smoothly around the shooting legend to provide him with open shots.

It’s still to be seen how Curry will change his playing style without Green to dish him crucial passes and provide perfect screens.
