Scott ‘The Extender’ Foster Officiating Game 5 Has Knicks Fans Worried

The New York Knicks are already excited for Saturday’s Game 5 after the team took a 3-1 lead in the NBA Finals against the San Antonio Spurs. The team is on the verge of winning a title after 53 years, as Jalen Brunson and Co. look in their best form of the season. However, New York fans’ dreams of a title might be in a hiccup, as the league announced the officiating assignment for Game 5.

Knicks fans were seemingly worried after the official announcement was made, as Scott Foster was selected as the crew chief for the next game. Foster, also named “The Extender,” has often been accused of allegedly favoring the trailing teams in the postseason and extending the series.

UnderdogNBA shared a post on X and wrote:

    “Officials for Saturday’s Knicks-Spurs Game 5:

    Scott Foster
    James Capers
    Tyler Ford
    Mitchell Ervin (alternate)”

Fans were worried due to the reputation attached to Foster’s career as an NBA official, as one Knicks fan wrote:

“Adam Silver going to hell I swear bro.”

Another fan was assured of the turnaround in the series and wrote:

“Scott Foster in a Game 5 is basically a known plot twist at this point.”

One more fan highlighted the importance of officiating at this point in the series and wrote:

“this is the game where the refs decide it all.”

Another user announced the arrival of Foster and wrote:

    “The extender has arrived.”

    One more user was excited:

“Scott Foster trending before the game even starts is basketball heritage.”

The Knicks have been in tussles with officials in earlier games, and Game 3 was especially problematic. Victor Wembanyama went away with a shove to Jalen Brunson in the first quarter, and just after that, Josh Hart was given a technical foul after Luke Kornet pushed him from behind after he made the bucket.

Knicks’ Jalen Brunson and Scott Foster got heated in Game 1

Scott Foster officiated Game 1 of the NBA Finals, and Jalen Brunson and the Knicks were not happy with a few calls. Brunson even had a heated altercation with Foster during the second quarter when the Knicks guard made a tough bucket and got a hit on his thigh that led him to the floor.

The Knicks superstar got up after the subsequent play and shouted at Foster to let him know it should have been a foul.

Game 5 will be crucial for the Knicks, as the San Antonio Spurs have nothing to lose from here. They will take every game like the last and come up with what they have, along with the home crowd advantage. Knicks fans will hope for a high-intensity closeout game.
