LeBron James’ next destination is one of the biggest questions of the offseason. James’ former Miami Heat teammate Mario Chalmers shared his opinion on the team that the forward could join next season.
The Miami Heat and the Golden State Warriors are among the frontrunners to land James this offseason, while Cleveland has also been widely mentioned as a potential landing spot. Chalmers believes the superstar forward could end up in the Bay Area. In an interview with DJ Siddiqi published on Friday, Chalmers said:
“I really think it’s between Golden State and Miami just by knowing Bron and being his teammate before and the way he approaches the game. Those are the two spots where I think he has the best chance of winning. I want to say Miami, but I have a gut feeling that it might be Golden State.”
LeBron James and Draymond Green are good friends, with James describing the Warriors forward as a “great dude” in an interview with the California Post in February.
Steph Curry, meanwhile, said sharing the court with James for Team USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics strengthened their friendship.
“All the battles we’ve had on the court and the back and forth, the fact that we actually got to be teammates, not just in any game like an All-Star game or whatever, but in high stakes basketball with a lot on the line…I think there’s a deepened respect and friendship there,” Curry told People in 2024.
The Miami Heat’s chances with LeBron James might have taken a hit
LeBron James was recently seen spending time with his former high school teammates, including Cavaliers assistant general manager Brandon Weems, fueling speculation about a potential return to Cleveland.
The Dawgs podcast shared the image, which it credited to ESPN Cleveland on X:
“Just waiting for the official announcement at this point.”
Several reports have linked James with a possible Cleveland return, where he began his NBA career after being drafted first overall by the Cavaliers in 2003.
