News about LeBron James might not be expected for a few more days, per Rich Paul’s recent update, but social media speculations are ongoing. Although the Miami Heat and Golden State Warriors appear to be the frontrunners to land King James, the Wolves have also reportedly been in conversations. An insider recently shared an update on James’ prospects in Minnesota.
Analyst Jon Krawczynski shared the report on social media, suggesting that the Wolves have connected with James’ management and his agent, Rich Paul, to explore the possibilities, given the franchise needs to fix its frontcourt. Naz Reid has been traded, and Rudy Gobert is not a versatile center who can space the floor.
A forward like James might be just what they need right now, and The Athletic insider Krawczynski highlighted this on his “The Jon Krawczynski Show.” He said:
“The Wolves would be silly not to explore it, not to reach out and you know, connect with LeBron James’ people, with Rich Paul, with the whole group and just say, ‘Hey we are interested, we would love to have you.'”
The analyst also added bits of his report for The Athletic and said:
“And I know they’ve done that. I’ve reported at the Athletic that they have reached out and connected with LeBron James’ camp and expressed an interest and a willingness in LeBron coming here.”
Krawczynski also went on to drop a big claim, suggesting that if LeBron James also helps win the Wolves a championship, besides Cleveland in 2016, it would be “a hell of a closing argument” in the GOAT debate with Michael Jordan. The insider added:
“If he’s won in Cleveland and then he also wins in Minnesota… man, that is a hell of a closing argument on your case. ‘I came to Minnesota and I helped this team win the championship and I ended this long, long drought.'”
The Wolves are still waiting for their first title in 37 years of the franchise’s history, and the four-time NBA champion might be the key to it all. However, the Wolves front office might have a serious challenger.
The Cleveland Cavaliers might look more enticing to LeBron James
LeBron James has had a storied 23-season career in the NBA, and fans are waiting for him to end it in style. He brought a much-awaited title to the Cleveland Cavaliers after coming out of Ohio, and it looks like they need help once more. Though the Cavs look like a championship-contending team, they have seen multiple postseason failures. And LBJ might be the missing piece.
Moreover, it would be a storybook ending for James’ career. It could be hard for the Wolves to beat that package. In his latest article on The Stein Line, analyst Marc Stein highlighted that possibility and wrote:
“The Cavaliers can offer a storybook ending as well as a real shot at a trip to the NBA Finals. Strong combination. Maybe even doubly strong when you are also likely to turn the season into documentary content.”
The story of LeBron James will soon continue at a new destination with a new team. Until then, speculations are the only thing fans can hold on to.
