Bronny James’ G-League performance comes days after he received playing time in the Lakers’ recent games. He hit a clutch shot against the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday. On Friday, he made history with his father, after the duo recorded the first father-to-son assist in league history.

James’ opportunities with the Lakers have been limited this season. He has played 34 games, averaging 2.1 points and 1.1 assists, shooting 40.6%.

Despite his modest numbers, coach JJ Redick has lauded James for his improvement this offseason, citing his effort on defense.

Savannah James was not the only parent who took note of their son’s scoring outburst in the G-League on Saturday. LeBron James also showed appreciation for his son’s performance, reacting to it with a message on X.

“Bronny going NUTS right now!!! WOW,” James wrote.

James has been vocal about his support for Bronny James. He also lauded his resilience after Wednesday’s game against the Indiana Pacers.

“Especially knowing the path, you know, the road …,” LeBron said. “So, just proud of him. I’m super proud of him. And he belongs. He belongs.”

James, who is in the final season of his deal with the Lakers, is averaging 20.9 points, 6.0 rebounds and 6.9 assists per game, shooting 51.2%. He has been a key contributor next to Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves, who are leading the team on offense.

Playing a record 23rd season in the NBA, James is averaging 33.6 minutes per game, the lowest of his storied career. As he inches closer to the twilight of his career, James has already achieved what he has described as one of his biggest basketball dreams: playing in the NBA with his son.
