Nuggets Reporter Dubs Jaylen Brown ‘Lifeboat’ Denver Desperately Needs, Reveals Trade Package That Could Work

The Boston Celtics have been shopping Jaylen Brown extensively this offseason, and the Denver Nuggets are the next one in line. The Celtics were reportedly in talks with the Milwaukee Bucks to bring Giannis Antetokounmpo, but that has gone to the trash. Sources suggested the franchise might be looking for a trade package from Denver. Amid this, a Nuggets analyst has presented his opinion on how the deal might come to fruition.

The Nuggets have made it clear that they would not include their franchise face, Nikola Jokic, in any deal. Meanwhile, Aaron Gordon has received attention from several teams, the Celtics being one of them. Considering the franchise is looking to add explosiveness to the frontcourt, the forward might be its best chance after losing Giannis to Miami.

Nuggets reporter Harrison Wind expressed his thoughts on a trade package the Nuggets can frame to land the 2024 NBA Finals MVP. He said:

“The Nuggets are backed into such a corner right now that they’ll probably get a move off Cam Johnson for very little in return… Right now, for me, it’s tough to imagine that heading into next season, they’re gonna have a better team than they had this last season. Jaylen Brown, to me, is a lifeboat. If you can get a deal done for Jaylen Brown, if it’s even like Jamal Murray and Aaron Gordon, you know, if it’s around Jamal Murray and Aaron Gordon, that to me is a lifeboat that you can get in a former Finals MVP and All-NBA First or Second-Team type of guy.”

The Nuggets reporter believed there might not be any scenario in which the team would be better than what it was last season, apart from bringing in Brown. Given that Denver suffered a difficult loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the postseason, the front office might be aiming to make some changes around Joker.

“They have set a really high bar in trade talks,” ESPN analyst provides update on Jaylen Brown’s value

Jaylen Brown earlier stated that the 2025-26 NBA season was his best thus far, even when the Celtics were pounded out of the first round of the postseason, which irked several fans and analysts. Stephen A. Smith even argued that the franchise was looking to trade him desperately due to his statement, as he didn’t put the team first.

Now, ESPN insider Sham Charania shared some crucial updates, as he said:

“They’ve set a really high bar in these trade talks. They’ve asked a lot of teams for even up to four first-round picks. And rival teams that I’m speaking to are finding a hard time figuring out what Jaylen Brown’s actual market is, especially at the valuation the Celtics are seeking a deal at… Will the Celtics have to settle for a deal that might not look like a great return for a player that last year was an MVP finalist?”

Given Charania’s concerns, it seems like the Nuggets might have a chance to land Jaylen Brown if they can negotiate, with Jamal Murray and Aaron Gordon on the table. However, the Nuggets don’t have enough draft assets to offer for the upcoming seasons.
