The New York Knicks have quickly moved on from championship celebrations to continue preparing for the next season. The NBA Draft is scheduled for June 23 and 24 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, as teams get ready for a star-studded night featuring some of the top talents in college. Meanwhile, the newly crowned champions have shown their interest in a draft prospect.
After the 2025-26 NBA champions returned from San Antonio, the team hosted a group workout for the upcoming draft prospect, Isaiah Evans. The Duke Blue Devils’ shooting guard’s production almost doubled in his last NCAA season, averaging 15 points and 3.2 rebounds, shooting 36.1% from deep. Knicks analyst Ian Begley shared the update on X and wrote:
“Knicks, fresh off a late night/early morning return from San Antonio on Sunday, hosted Duke guard Isaiah Evans today as part of a group workout for draft prospects, per SNY sources. Knicks have the No. 24, No. 31 and No. 55 picks in next week’s draft.”
Evans is slated to be one of the late first-round picks, as the Knicks will choose at the 24th spot. Moreover, an efficient two-way guard who can shoot from the perimeter might be what the Knicks need.
Even though Landry Shamet and Miles McBride took up that responsibility perfectly last season, alongside OG Anunoby, a young, explosive star at that position will unlock the roster.
Knicks Prospect Isaiah Evans Receives A Pre-Draft Gift From His College
Isaiah Evans is yet to be picked by a team in the NBA Draft, but has already received a fitting gift from his college: his Duke jerseys. He was seemingly emotional when the college paid him respect and remembered him before the big night. He spent two seasons with the Duke squad.
When asked by his mother how he felt about the gesture before his big night in the NBA, Evans responded:
“It’s crazy… like I was really a Duke basketball player.”
The Knicks have earned the right to celebrate the win after 53 years of waiting. However, their preparations for draft night only show the kind of work ethic the legendary team puts in that has led the Knicks to a title. This season, the draft will feature several stars in the top five, and fans will be eager to know their destinies.
